The village is surrounded by the Sierra Nevada, the highest mountain massif in the world in relation to its distance to the sea. The marvelous surroundings are equal to none. The most shimmiring and luminous heat of all suns is refreshhed by the seabreeze and the icy winds that descend from the mountain.
Taganga is beautiful, romantic and enchanting, pride of Columbia and heritage of humanity. Its population, with indigenous roots, conserves intact its tradition: artesanal fishing, with its "chinchorros" - traditional fishing boats, filled with history and legends. Cloth, as customs dictates, is woven by "the women of the place, with their long hairs". This they were taught, when they, the men, came down from the sierra.
The Taganguian identifies himself with the sea, its color, its movement. From the heights of the mountains, he observes how the nets fill up and report this to those below with a hail coming from his the deepness of his soul. The men down below, at sea, pull in the nets with rich skills passed on over the centuries.
The sea is the spirit, the thought and the memory of the Taganguian, without disregard to his ancestors from the sierra, for him it is the origin of creation, according to tradition:
She was water in all parts, she was the river
The lagoon, the gulf and sea, and as such she was in all parts
At first, there was only the mother, her name was Gauchovang
The mother was not the people, nor nothing, nor anything
She was the spirit of that to come and she was the thought and memory.

Taganga remains like a stunning postcard, at the beginning of the Tayrona parc, in surroundings of paradise, beach, breeze and sea.
